Nakhodka visit Davao
Designed to facilitate the sharing of experience and operating models between seafarers' centres operating in similar ports, this programme began with a pilot in 1998 involving Stockholm and Yalta and has continued through two twinning activities (Liverpool/Odessa and Tuapse/Venice) under Phase I and a further eight activities (Kerch/Gdynia, Fredericia/Klaipeda, Izmail/Bremen, Constanta/Barcelona, Reunion/Swinoujscie, Davao/Nakhodka Montreal/Santos,and Halfax/Colombo) under the global Phase II of the project.

Alan Djeutang visits Swinoujscie
Each twinning activity involves members of staff from two seafarers' centres visiting their 'partner' centre for up to two weeks to participate in a structured programme designed to gain experience of the widest possible range of seafarers' welfare issues. These visits are funded by the ICSW using a grant provided by the ITF Seafarers' Trust.
To participate in the project centres should complete and return an application form, after which they will be paired with a partner centre and expected to submit a budget and visit programme before the exchange is approved and funded by the ICSW. Participants are expected to submit a report on completion of their visit.
