Help Filipino Seafarers Affected by Typhoon Haiyan

Typhoon Haiyan 1The devastating typhoon Haiyan that ripped through the Philippines causing widespread death and destruction was the strongest storm ever recorded. It is estimated that 160,000 Filipino seafarers, and their families, are affected. All sections of the maritime industry responded quickly and effectively. However, there is still a need to provide assistance to Filipino seafarers and their families whose lives have been devastated by Typhoon Haiyan.

ISWAN is working with industry partners to raise much needed funds for relief and reconstruction. The relief phase will take months and the reconstruction phase will take years. We must not forget the people of the Philippines when the terrible aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan is no longer front page news.

The ISWAN Seafarers Emergency Fund has already distributed tens of thousands of dollars to seafarers' welfare missions and centres around the world to provide free communications for Filipino seafarers. We still urgently need funds to help Filipino seafarers and their families to rebuild their lives.
