Polish and Indian Seafarer Centres Take Part in Exchange

At the beginning of October Joseph Chacko and Swamidas Pillai from the KANDLA Seafarers welfare centre (India) visited the twin centre in Poland - Szczecin Seafarers Center.

The visitors from Kandla participated in the everyday life in the Polish centre. They visited ships, met port and city authorities, Chairmen of the Welfare Committee, and the ITF inspector. Together with the local chaplains they participated in the ecumenical service. Joseph Chacko and Swamidas Pillai were very impressed by the meeting in Polish Steamship Company one of the largest shipping company in Europe. They also visited Marine Academy and met their students and teachers.

The Indian guests took part in the Welfare Committee meeting where the problems of the centre activities were discussed. The guests from Kandla which was awarded the title "The Port of the Year" in 2012 shared their experience in welfare work organization . They also visited a seafarers' centre in Świnoujście.

The return visit to India is now taking place.
