ISWAN's Mental Health Awareness Training for the Maritime Industry will be delivered online twice in March 2021 and a limited number of places remain available.
The two-module course will be delivered over two half-days and provides an introduction to mental health awareness for management-level personnel on shore and on board ships, including those who carry a mental health officer responsibility. It is also suitable for anyone who wants to gain a better understanding of mental health at sea and carries responsibility for crew.
Through a mix of discussions, presentations, and practical activities, the live interactive course aims to build participants' skills and confidence in understanding mental health, recognising the signs of mental health problems and first response to concerns that can arise on board.
The training is designed by Consultant Clinical Psychologist Dr. Pennie Blackburn, author of ISWAN's Mentally Healthy Ships and Good Mental Health Guides, specifically to build awareness of mental health at sea.
Places cost £125 per participant, which includes a detailed participant manual and certificate of attendance. A 10% discount is available for ISWAN members. All profits from this training will go directly towards the operating costs of ISWAN's charitable services.
The course is on offer twice this month but places are quickly being filled. Bookings can be made via the links below:
