Psychological Wellbeing at Sea

Taking care of your wellbeing can help you limit the risks of working at sea and keep yourself fit, healthy and happy.

Psychological wellbeing is about being well psychologically, which means that we can function well, we feel generally good about ourselves and about life, we feel a sense of life satisfaction, a sense of purpose and a sense that our lives are on the right track. Psychological wellbeing is beneficial for your overall health and can even mean that you live longer.

This self-help guide aims to explain what positive mental health and psychological wellbeing are, help you to recognise the risks to wellbeing that you may face as a seafarer, and give you some practical ideas about how to maximise your psychological wellbeing.
